Manire Lineage
My grandmother was descended, I have been told, from John Manire who was born about 1650. John was married to Anne Dew and died in 1717. They had a son William Manire b. abt. 1712 in VA. He married Anne Stone of Richmond Virginia. Then he died in Amelia Co. VA abt. 1770. They had a son John A. Manire b. Oct. 18, 1737 in Amelia Co. VA. He married Elizabeth Jackson, who was descended from Ralph Jackson Sr. who married Leah Williams. John was a 2nd Lt. in Amelia Co., VA Militia and took the oath Jan. 22, 1778. After the Revolutionary War he migrated to KY and was on the tax rolls in Madison Co. in 1789. He died in Williamson Co. TN in 1812. He did not name his children in his will. According to other records his children were: Phillip, Stephen, Betsy, and John Wiliam Manire. (Taken from a Manire History: Author Unknown.) My cousin “Doc” Manire also states that these were also the children of John A. and Elizabeth: Daniel, Isaac, Patsey, and Susannah.
